If you haven’t gotten a lightweight stroller yet this season, here are a few different choices to look at. There’s the Joolz Aer, the Bugaboo Butterfly, the Minu V2, and the Cybex Orfeo.
Joolz Aer Lightweight Stroller
Let’s take a look at the Joolz Aer, a longtime favorite when it comes to lightweight strollers. Here’s what we love about this stroller! First of all, the Aer has a slightly wider seat than most other lightweight strollers, great for taking a toddler around. It’s very lightweight, at just 13.4 pounds. The pocket on the back of the Aer is amazingly convenient for keeping smaller stuff inside that you wouldn’t want to stash in the basket - keys, an extra bottle, or anything else you might want - at your fingertips. This stroller doesn’t come with a legrest included, but if that’s important to you, the good news is that you can get one - it’s sold separately here.
The stroller features a decent recline, but the recline is kind of complicated compared to the one on the Butterfly, Orfeo or Minu, since first, you have to unzip a lot of the back panel, and then you can adjust the recline mechanism, which is inside. Also, it’s difficult to adjust the recline while your child is leaning against the seat. However, aside from the recline, people love this stroller. It has an easy fold, looks really cool, the wide seat is great, and that pocket on the back of the seat really comes in handy. There is an option for a bumper bar and for a leg rest if you need - both are sold separately.
Bugaboo Butterfly
The Bugaboo Butterfly is another popular lightweight option. The stroller can hold up to 17 pounds in the roomy storage basket itself. The stroller itself weighs only 16.1 pounds, which is not that heavy, although the Joolz Aer and Orfeo are both definitely lighter options. The one-step, one-handed fold is amazing to work with. This is definitely one of our most popular strollers right now! It has an easy collapsible fold, and plenty of great features. If you were set on getting a Bugaboo stroller but would love something lightweight, this is a perfect choice.
Minu V2
The Minu stroller is a classic. It has so many exciting features, like a one-handed one-step fold, a roomy seat with a multi-position recline and leg rest, and front and rear suspension. The recline is very easy to adjust. At 16.9 pounds, it's definitely heavier than the rest of these strollers. The basket is a really nice size, and it can hold up to 20 pounds. There is a pocket on the back of the seat, perfect for keeping what you need at your fingertips. The seat back of the Minu is only 18 inches, which isn’t the best for tall kids, but then there’s also another 6 inches of space between the seatback and the canopy. Also, the fold isn’t the smallest, at 12.5″ L x 20.3″ W x 23″ H (with the bumper bar), but it is fast and easy! The adjustable leg rest and easy recline offer your little one a comfortable ride. The seat is designed to reduce slouching.
Cybex Orfeo Lightweight Stroller
The Cybex Orfeo offers so many features, and it’s still extremely lightweight at just 13.9 pounds. It folds really really small, and is designed to fit in the overhead compartment (although we do recommend checking with your airline to confirm of course). It's actually a very reasonably priced stroller, at just $399.95.
