Maxi Cosi at PishPoshBaby.com Like people, every manufacturer has a story. Today we will tell you the story of Maxi Cosi.

It began in 1984, Holland. Those were the days before seat belt laws and air bags in Europe. Sjef van der Linden of Maxi Miliaan (which has been renamed Dorel since 1994) ran a successful retail nursery store that imported all sorts of top-of-the-line baby nursery products. Until this day, Maxi Cosi's headquarters are still in the Dutch Helmond. Up until then, oftentimes car seats, booster seats, and the like were a slapdash ordeal. Many time the seat was just slung over the back seat, and other unsafe setups. And then, Sjef van der Linden took the concept of the US Dyn-O-Mite car seat and redid and upgraded it. His finished product was introduced: The Maxi Cosi. The Maxi Cosi was the first European manufactured infant car seat that was designed with comprehensive safety measures. It was manufactured geared toward infants from newborn up to about 9 months. It was also considered unique in that it had the ability to be rear-facing (a fairly standard feature in 2014, but not in 1984). And it was a success. So much so, that in 2007 Dorel started selling the Maxi Cosi in the USA. With time, Maxi Cosi started to create different models in car seats. Currently, there are Mico AP, Prezi, Pria , and Rodi. They also have some coordinating accessories for their car seats: weathershield, bug net, and footmuff. They also put out the Kaia lightweight stroller. Here is a snapshot of each of the Maxi Cosi products: Mico AP -Infant car seat -Rear facing -8 lbs -Appropriate for babies 5-22 lbs -18.2" x 16.8" x 31" -$199.99 Prezi -Infant car seat -Rear facing -11.7 lbs -Appropriate for babies 4-30 lbs -32.2" x 17.2" x 16.4" -$289.99-$299.99 Pria -Convertible car seat -Rear and forward facing -25 lbs -Appropriate for children: rear-facing 4-40 lbs, forward-facing 22-70 lbs -28" x 20" x 23" -$249.99-$289.99 Rodi -Booster car seat -Forward facing -Appropriate for children 30-100 lbs -$159.99-$179.99 Kaia -Lightweight stroller -19 lbs -Appropriate for children up to 50 lbs -Reclines -Coordinating weathersield available -$199.99 The success of the Maxi Cosi Infant Car Seat motivated Maxi Miliaan to branch out into other fields of baby gear. Quinny (manufactures strollers) is another company under the Dorel manufacturer. It, too was designed with maximum safety in mind. Sarah
